The Storm Prediction Center is preparing a watch for much of northwest Iowa, eastern Nebraska and portions of Minnesota. The watch is expected to be issued within the hour. Rapid thunderstorm development is expected late this afternoon with all modes of severe weather possible.
At this time it is unclear which way the SPC will go with this watch. There is some concern the threat of tornadoes is low, and they could opt for a Thunderstorm Watch. The greatest threat will come in the form of large hail and strong, damaging winds. But an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
We are monitoring this developing situation and will have an update when the watch is issued. Stay tuned!
