After an expected round of strong to severe thunderstorms on Tuesday Night, a frontal boundary is expected to stall out somewhere over Iowa. This is expected to serve as a focal point for additional development on Wednesday.
As you can see in the graphic above, the Storm Prediction Center has posted a slight risk already for much of the state. All modes of severe weather will be possible with any storms that develop on this day.
There are a lot of questions to be answered, including how will storms fire on Tuesday? And where will boundaries set up and move in their aftermath? These question marks will keep the situation fluid for Wednesday, likely all the way into the afternoon hours before storms re-fire.
We are also monitoring a threat for severe weather this weekend, but it’s too soon to really nail down any details. These particular storms could also carry a serious threat for heavy rains and the threat of flash flooding will also need to be monitored this weekend.
