The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a new Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola and Sioux Counties. As you can see in the radar image from 4:45pm, a very strong thunderstorm with a prominent hail core is moving through this area. This storm has a history of producing large hail over the last hour or two.
More storms are expected to develop tonight and will bear some watching. A tornado watch is now in effect for a large portion of Nebraska and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for portions of northern Iowa for about another hour.
